Our annual Coffee, Tea and History was held on Sunday September 22, at the Erie Train Station.  This year’s subject was Sir William Johnson, one of the most Powerful and Romantic figures in early American History.  An Irish immigrant who became very wealthy and influential with the Six Nations Indians.  Frank Salvati gave a “you could hear a pin drop” presentation.  Mr. Salvati gives presentations on numerous subjects throughout the area.  If you have the opportunity to hear one, you won’t be disappointed.

The Spring meeting will be in March at the Presbyterian Church in Lake Huntington due to the cold. If there is interest a zoom can be made available-see “Meetings” below.

Historically it was suggested that the Station building(barn) had been constructed in the early 1850’s. We have now been shown a postcard that shows the building in place and operating as an Erie Railroad Station date noted as 1851. And since the structure was reported as first being a barn in a different location in town closer to the Delaware River, it would seem that it must have been constructed sometime in the 1840’s. If anyone finds a picture with the barn in its original location, we would greatly like to have it.

As noted earlier, we have a limited number of Cochecton Papers I and II reprinted and are for sale for $20.00 each. If you would like one mailed, please add $5.00. We also still have some “All Aboard” CD’s and yes tapes available. CD’s are $10.00 + $7.00 shipping.  Music performed by Mickey Barnett.

>We also have available for sale a photo book, “Reflections” of beautiful pictures taken by the Late Mary Ann White of scenes from the area along with her reflections noted. These books can be purchased for $10.00 each and as with the Cochecton Papers, if you would like it mailed please included $5.00 for shipping. A picture of the cover can be seen in our Gallery section of this site.
